How to Mass Deploy the Ditto tvOS Receiver Using Meraki

This guide allows Ditto and Cisco Meraki administrators to zero-touch deploy the Ditto tvOS Receiver across multiple supervised Apple TVs simultaneously.

• Step 1 - Preconfigure Cisco Meraki in Ditto
• Step 2 - Deploy Ditto Receiver in Cisco Meraki
• Step 3 - Link Devices to Rooms in Ditto
• Step 4 - Disable Airplay

Step 1 - Preconfigure Cisco Meraki in Ditto

1. Log in to the Ditto Account Portal
2. Navigate to the My Organization area
3. Select "Deployment"
4. Select the "Ditto tvOS Receiver" tab
5. Select "Cisco Meraki" from the Apple TV MDM type options
6. Note the configuration settings that appear. It may be helpful to keep this page open, as you will need this information in the following steps. 

Step 2 - Deploy Ditto tvOS Receiver in Cisco Meraki

1. Log in to your Cisco Meraki portal
2. Mouseover "Systems Manager" and then choose “Apps” under Manage
3. Select "+ Add app" at the top right of the screen
4. Select "tvOS"
5. Select "App Store app"
6. Click "Next"
7. Search for "Ditto Connect" and select it when it appears
8. Ensure “Auto-install / auto-uninstall” is checked
9. Select the appropriate scope for your Apple TVs
10. Press "Save"
11. In the navigation pane, mouseover "Systems Manager" and then choose “Settings” under manage
12. Click the “+ Add Profile” at the top right
13. Select "Device Profile" (default)
14. Click "Continue"
15. Provide a name for the profile configuration such as “Ditto Receiver Settings”
16. Choose the appropriate scope for your Apple TV devices
17. In the left column, choose “Add Settings”
18. Click the “tvOS” device type to filter the available options
19. Choose “Managed App Config”
20. Select "tvOS" as the platform
21. Select "Ditto Receiver" from the app dropdown
22. Enter the settings displayed in your Ditto Account Portal from the end of step one above exactly as they're displayed. If the fields are incomplete, missing, or incorrect, your receivers will not pair with your Ditto account.
23. In the left column, choose “Add Settings”
24. Click the “tvOS Device Type" to filter the available options
25. Select "Single App Mode" (Kiosk)
26. Set the device type to “tvOS”
27. Select "Ditto Receiver" for the app
28. Click "Save"

It may take a few minutes for these settings to propagate across your devices.

Step 3 - Link Devices to Rooms in Ditto

At this point, your Apple TVs are now configured and paired to your Ditto account. You now need to link each receiver to a room.

1. Return to the Ditto Account Portal
2. Navigate to the Rooms section
3. Create a room for each receiver you added through Cisco Meraki
4. Ditto is now ready to use with your Apple TV. Users can now mirror their screens using Ditto Connect.

1. Return to the Ditto Account Portal
2. Navigate to the My Organization section
3. Select Deployment
4. Click the Ditto tvOS Receiver tab
5. Under Quick Link Rooms, select Begin Linking and you will be presented with a list of unlinked receivers added through Cisco Meraki
6. Select the room each receiver should be assigned to from the drop down beside the receiver name

Step 4 - Disable AirPlay

1. Login to the Ditto Account Portal
2. Navigate to the My Organization area
3. Select "Deployment"
4. Select the "Ditto tvOS Receiver" tab
5. Download the AirPlay Disabling Profile (This option only appears if you've selected Cisco Meraki as your MDM Provider)
6. Log in to your Cisco Meraki portal
7. In the navigation pane, mouseover "Systems Manager" and then choose “Settings” under manage
8. Click the “+ Add Profile” at the top right
9. Select "Upload custom Apple profile"
10. Click "Continue"
11. Click the "Upload a .mobileconfig file" link
12. Upload the file downloaded from your Ditto Account Portal above
13. Select the scope for your Apple TVs
14. Click "Save"
