How to share YouTube videos with Ditto Connect
Overview:
Ditto Connect makes it easy to share YouTube videos directly to Ditto receiver-enabled displays. With this feature, users can simply copy a YouTube video URL and paste it in Ditto Connect to stream it to their displays. There's no need to mirror your entire device screen.
YouTube streaming functionality is available on the Ditto Connect app on Mac and Windows. It is included in all Ditto plans.
Sharing with Ditto Connect for Mac
- Open the Ditto Connect application and enter your room code.
- Select the "Connect" button.
- Select "Share YouTube Video" from the drop-down menu.

Enter a YouTube link.

Go to the YouTube video you wish to share. Copy the URL from your web browser's address bar, or copy the URL from the share option on the video. Paste it here.

Please note that Ditto is unable to play private YouTube videos. In order for a video to be shared and played successfully through Ditto Connect, it must be either public or unlisted on YouTube. If you attempt to share a private video, playback will not be possible, and an error message may be displayed. Ensure the video’s privacy settings are correct before attempting to share it via Ditto Connect.

- Video playback controls will appear in the Ditto Connect window as the video starts to play on the receiver. These controls allow you to:
- Skip backward 15 seconds.
- Play/Pause.
- Skip forward 15 seconds.
- Move the video progress bar to a specific timestamp.
- The last five recent YouTube videos will appear in the menu.
- Users can the clear all recent YouTube videos from that list.
- Users can the clear all recent YouTube videos from that list.
- Once a video ends, Ditto disconnects and returns the receiver to a normal state. For example, if signage was running before playing the YouTube video, signage returns and Ditto Connect resets the video to the beginning, as shown below.

Additional Information
- Media controls on the Apple TV remote will work when sharing to the Ditto tvOS receiver.
- Windows has built-in media controls on the receiver when sharing to the Ditto Windows Receiver.
- If you are sharing to more than one receiver and one of the receivers is slightly out of sync, using the 15 second rewind functionality gets the videos back in sync.
- YouTube video playback is currently limited to 720p.
- You are unable to play/pause live YouTube videos – the video plays from the live point.
- If a user tries to screen mirror to the same Ditto receiver that is actively streaming YouTube media, the screen mirroring will happen in the background behind the video.
- You will be disconnected if the TV turns off or if the app is moved to the background while a YouTube video is playing.
