With the release of Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0, some steps will be required when upgrading any existing Ditto Windows Receivers to version 2 for the first time in your environment.
Recommended steps for upgrading from Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 to version 2.0.
Notes:
- DO NOT uninstall or launch Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 before confirming that Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 has transferred the receiver name, room code and any customizations added to the receiver screen.
Step 1: Ensure Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 is not running on PC receivers
Step 2: Install Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 on the Windows PC
Depending on the version of Windows OS, installing Ditto Windows Receiver may require different installation methods to ensure correct auto-updating when new updates are released.
- Windows 10 PCs: use the DittoReceiver.appinstaller for the auto-update process to work.
- Windows 11 PCs: install using either the DittoReceiver.appinstaller or the MSIX
Step 3: Launch Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0
Step 4: Confirm the functionality of Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 by ensuring the application opens, pairs to your Ditto account and shows the room code or any digital signage paired to the Windows PC on the receiver screen
Step 5: Uninstall Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 from the PC
Upgrading from Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 to version 2.0 through a Mass Deployment option
Step 1: Ensure Ditto Windows Receiver version 1.0 is not running on the Windows PC receivers
Step 2: Deploy Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 to the Windows PC receivers through your mass deployment option.

Ditto Windows Receiver 2.0 Mass Deployment Options
There are methods to deploy Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 through most management and deployment services on Windows.
Option 1: Intune
- Ditto can be added as a third-party application to Intune for deployment. Learn more.
Warning: Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 will not auto-update when deployed through Intune. Updates will need to be issued manually by administrators.
Option 2: SCCM (System Center Configurator Manager)
- SCCM can use either MSIX or the app installer by using PowerShell commands.
Note: SCCM has been renamed and repackaged as MEMCM
- Windows 10: Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 can be deployed via SCCM or MEMCM using .appinstaller but the process then requires Powershell scripts to allow automatic updating on Windows 10. Learn more.
- Windows 11 OS: Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0 can be deployed via SCCM or MEMCM using .msix and will automatically update on Windows 11, but not Windows 10. Learn more.

Differences between file types:
- AppInstaller: (Recommended) used primarily to facilitate the installation and updates of applications that are distributed outside of traditional app stores, such as through a website or a direct download link.
- MSIX: a modern packaging format introduced by Microsoft. It is designed to replace the older APPX format and provides benefits such as improved security, reliability, and easier distribution and updating of applications.
Special Cases for Installation:
- Brand new Windows PCs will need Microsoft's App Installer added to the PC
- Some versions of Windows OS, such as Windows 10 LTSC, will require a PowerShell command to install Ditto Windows Receiver version 2.0. This will be needed for Windows OS versions that do not include the Microsoft Store.
